Cooper L. Gibson is an artist and musician based in Lexington, KY. Their work reflects on their experience as a queer person in Kentucky. 606-312-2004 explores how public spaces can operate as sites of desire. With her lens as witness and co-conspirator, Gibson opens a hole between two worlds: a boat ramp located in the Daniel Boone National Forest, which functions as a cruising site for predominately gay men, and an adult arcade located on a street named "Family Circle." These sparse and abstracted photographs evoke the sweaty and thick sensuality of these spaces and the hauntology of desire that lingers long after we are gone.
This exhibition was part of Tampa Art Week, 2026.
